Our last Pillar was no stranger to dedication, an impeccable work ethic, and a friend to many of us! They were driven, they were loyal, they were selfless. They served on the Pride Bands Board, The Jon Sims Endowment Fund Board, and on the board for the Mid America Freedom Band in addition to all the other hats he wore in balancing multiple responsibilities and roles in their professional and personal life. The Mid America Freedom Band’s mission is “To create an inclusive community that fosters and celebrates diversity.” Clearly, they believed in the mission and strived to make others feel included, ALWAYS! Those of us that knew him, miss them dearly. Their good energy and love continue to live not only in our local band but also throughout all the Pride Band Alliance. It is my absolute pleasure to announce the third Pillar of Pride in 2023 to MATTHEW NOVOTNY. Accepting the award in memory of Matthew are Jessie Davis and Lee Hartman, Artistic Directors of the Mid America Freedom Band.
